2024年に30周年を迎えたGiant Robotの日本初展覧会を開催！
20年前、初めてサンフランシスコを訪れた際に立ち寄ったジャイアントロボットギャラリー、そこで感じた“こんな素敵なギャラリーを日本でもやってみたい”という思いは、17年前にモグラグを立ち上げるきっかけのひとつです。
30年間、アメリカ西海岸のポップアートを牽引し続けてきた彼らの、日本での初展覧会をモグラグギャラリーで開催できることはとても光栄だし、また“日本のロウブロウ・アート”を標榜する私たちにとってはその核心との邂逅を果たすメモリアルな展覧会となります。We are so happy!
Twenty years ago, when we first visited San Francisco, we stopped by the Giant Robot Gallery. The feeling we had there—"we want to create a gallery like this in Japan"—was one of the inspirations that led to the founding of mograg gallery 17 years ago.
It is a great honor to be able to host their first exhibition in Japan at our gallery, especially considering that they have been at the forefront of West Coast Pop Art for 30 years. For us, who advocate for "Japanese Lowbrow Art," this exhibition will be a memorable encounter with the very core of that big movement. We are so happy!

The Giant Robot 30 Years exhibition at Mograg gallery features a cross section of artists who often exhibit at the GR2 gallery. Some artists have been with us for nearly two decades and some are new, but the most amazing point to note is the feeling of community that comes with them cumulatively.
The pieces in the exhibition will feature a range of illustrative art and sculptures and will examine the feeling of a Saturday evening reception at the Giant Robot gallery.
モグラグギャラリーで開催される『Giant Robot 30 Years展』では、GR2ギャラリーで頻繁に展示しているアーティストたちを横断的にご紹介します。なかには20年近く共に歩んできたアーティストもいれば、新世代のアーティストもいますが、共通した私たちの最も素晴らしい点は、みんなで集まって過ごしたなかで生まれたコミュニティの感覚です。
展示される作品は、イラストレーションや彫刻を含んだ多岐に渡るジャンルを展開し、にぎやかな“Giant Robot gallery”での土曜の夜のレセプションパーティーのような雰囲気を表現します。

Giant Robot magazine, stores, and gallery have become beloved staples in the worlds of art, culture, and retail. Founded in 1994 by Eric Nakamura, Giant Robot began as a zine focusing on Asian-American pop culture, kung fu films, ramen, and everything in between. The magazine quickly gained a cult following for its unique take on contemporary culture and its spotlight on emerging artists and trends.
The brand expanded into physical stores and galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. These stores became go-to destinations for fans of quirky toys, zines, clothing, and limited-edition pieces. The galleries hosted art exhibitions, often showcasing innovative work from contemporary artists, designers, and illustrators. Today, Giant Robot operates as a shop and gallery in Sawtelle Japantown, Los Angeles.
Founded in mid-1994, Giant Robot is celebrating its 30th year in 2024. That year also saw the release of a large book titled Giant Robot: 30 Years of Asian American Pop Culture. Additionally, the Giant Robot Biennale exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum drew large crowds, leading to Giant Robot's first exhibition in Japan at Mograg Gallery.
