<기괴하고도, 고결한>은 ‘그로테스크’, 즉 일반적이지 않고, 비정형적인, 그래서 낯설고 때로는 불쾌한 감각까지도 선사하는 형상에서 시작한다. 그로테스크는 부조화, 비정상성, 희극과 비극이 극렬히 충돌하고 대립, 혹은 양립하는 현상에 기반한다. 본 전시는 이러한 위배의 감각에 기대어 오늘의 정상성을 비판적으로 재고하고, 일반화된 일상의 양식 바깥으로부터 동시대의 삶과 존재의 조건을 자각하길 요구한다.

The exhibition 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙦𝙪𝙚, 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙑𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙤𝙪𝙨 begins with the notion of the “grotesque”—forms that are irregular, atypical, and unfamiliar, often provoking sensations of discomfort or strangeness. The grotesque is grounded in dissonance, abnormality, and the intense collision, opposition, or uneasy coexistence of comedy and tragedy. This sense of violation invites a critical reassessment of today’s norms, prompting an awareness of the contemporary conditions from outside the generalized modes of life.
