この度、亀戸アートセンターにてスウェーデン出身の映画作家、アンダース・ヘーガー・ヨンソン(通称:Bad Boy HJ)制作の長編映画『Places that were anime to me』の上映会を開催いたします。
アンダース・ヘーガー・ヨンソン(通称:Bad Boy HJ)は、スウェーデン出身の映画作家、作家、コンセプチュアル・アーティストです。ヴィンテージと現代の技術、アナログとデジタルを組み合わせた手法を用い、時間的・社会文化的・視覚的に分断されたポップカルチャーの要素をつなぎ合わせ、過去のアーカイブ素材と新たに制作した映像を融合させることで、新しい美学的・テーマ的世界を創出します。商業メディアでの豊富な経験(テレビ番組制作やレコードレーベル運営など)を背景に、彼の作品はアニメーション、電子ゲーム、ジャンル映画、ハードエレクトロニック・ダンスミュージック、それらに関連するサブカルチャーなど、ポップカルチャー表現に焦点を当てています。映像の美的データを保存する能力に着目し、アスペクト比、フレームレート、解像度、カラースペースといった技術的要素が、単なる制約や可能性にとどまらず、私たちの集合的記憶や解釈能力と深く結びついていることを示しています。この考えを踏まえることで、映像を「時空を超えて移動させる」ことが可能となり、特定の文化形式の美学的・文化的地位を遊ぶことができます。
長編映画『Places that were anime to me』では、アナログのアーカイブ素材、ビデオカメラ映像、色褪せたファンサブテープがコラージュされ、視覚的に想像力豊かなコスプレ演出と融合することで、初恋の物語を「にじむ映像色」で描きます。2000年前後にスウェーデンのティーンエイジャーとして日本アニメに夢中になった記憶をたどる、ノスタルジックな成長の旅です。本作は北欧全域およびアメリカで上映されており、日本での初上映は亀戸アートセンターにて行われます。上映に合わせて、映画制作で使用された資料や制作過程の資料の展示も行われます。
We are pleased to announce a screening of the feature film Places that were anime to me, directed by Swedish filmmaker Anders Häger Jönson (also known as Bad Boy HJ), at Kameido Art Center.
Anders Häger Jönson aka Bad Boy HJ is a Swedish filmmaker, writer and conceptual artist. Using a mix of technical tools - vintage and contemporary, analog and digital - he explores bridges between temporal, sociocultural and visually separate parts of popular culture, creating new aesthetic and thematic worlds by fusing older archival material with newly produced images. Using his extensive experience working in the commercial media business, producing TV shows and running record labels, as an inspiration, Häger Jönson’s work focuses on pop cultural expressions like animated cartoons, electronic games, genre cinema, hard electronic dance music and the subcultures connected to these fields. His work explores the moving image's ability to save aesthetic data. Aspect ratio, frame rate, image resolution and color spaces are often seen as purely technical limitations and possibilities, but are closely connected to our collective memory and interpretive ability. By acknowledging this it is possible to make images “time travel” and play with a specific cultural form’s accepted aesthetic and cultural status.
In the feature film Places that were anime to me a collage of analog archival material, camcorder footage and faded fansub tapes, is mixed with visually imaginative cosplay dramatizations to tell the story of a first love in bleeding video colors. A nostalgic journey through memories of coming of age as a Swedish teenage fan of Japanese animation at the turn of the millennium. The film has been shown in all Nordic countries and in the US and will have its Japanese premiere at Kameido Art Center where artefacts used in the film and material from the filmmaking process will be exhibited.
