東京の都市部から西に向けて走る。23区を抜け多摩地域に入ると、風景だけでなくそこにある生態にも変化がある。都市部ではよくみる鳥である鳩も、多摩地域ではやや小ぶりの体躯になり、羽毛の色が茶褐色を帯びている。主に都市に生息しているドバトは群れで行動するが、その反面キジバトは単独もしくはツガイで行動し、餌を求めて人に寄りつくこともなく、唯そこに生きている。

Heading westward out of urban Tokyo into the Tama region, there are changes in not just scenery but ecology, too. The turtle doves found out here have feathers of a brownish tint and are slightly smaller than the pigeons in Tokyo. While city pigeons tend to flock together, these turtle doves tend to live alone or in pairs. Never approaching people in search of food, they simply live their lives.
