亀戸アートセンターは、岡野智史 個展「SCENES」を開催いたします。
岡野はこれまで、ブラウン管のテレビモニターに映る図像のような、それ自体が発光しているように見える絵をアナログの画面上で再現できないかと、その「発光」の表現を追求し、エアブラシを使った独自の技法を用い作品を制作してきました。
今回岡野は、絵のモチーフに描いていたアウトラインを外すことで色彩の表現をよりクリアに見せることができるのではないかと仮定し、四角いドットの色面のみで構成された画面の制作に注力しました。これは、アウトラインという絵の説明的な要素を取り除き、色数、ドットの数を制限することでその色彩がこれまでとどう変化するのか、またそれが何かぼんやりとでも具体的な形に見えるためにどう描くか、というテーマを据えた作家の新たな試みです。
もう一つの試みとして、下絵となる線画をAIによる画像生成に任せ、それを元にF50号の絵画作品を制作しました。近年なにかと議論になっているAIを用いた絵画制作を経験することで、作家自身にどのような影響が生じるのか。アーティストにとって、これからのAIとの付き合い方の一つの例としても興味深い作品となるのではないでしょうか。
本展はドット絵の新作10数点、AIとの共作、過去作数点で構成されます。思考と実験を繰り返す、作家の「SCENES」をぜひご覧ください。
・作家ステートメント
小さい作品では同一のグリッドを使い、色と明暗のバリエーションを作り出すことを試みた。
F50の作品では下書きをAIで作ってみた。AIと作家の関係が色々と考えられているが「共作」という1つの選択肢を試してみた。
Kameido Art Center is pleased to present "SCENES " a solo exhibition by Satoshi Okano.
Okano has been pursuing the expression of "luminescence" in order to reproduce on an analog screen the images that appear to emit light themselves, such as the images on a CRT TV monitor, and has been creating works using a unique technique with an airbrush.
This time, Okano assumed that by removing the outlines drawn on the motifs of the paintings, it would be possible to show the expression of color more clearly, and focused on creating screens composed only of square dots for colored surfaces. This was a new attempt by the artist to remove the descriptive element of the picture, the outline, and to limit the number of colors and dots to see what difference the colors made so far, and how they could be drawn to appear as some vague but concrete form.
As another experiment, the artist left the preliminary line drawings to image generation by AI and created paintings based on them. What effect will the experience of creating paintings using AI, which has been the subject of much discussion in recent years, have on the artists themselves? For artists, this work will be interesting as an example of how to deal with AI in the future.
This exhibition consists of more than 10 new works of dot paintings, collaborative works with AI, and several past works. Please come and see the artist's "SCENES," in which he repeatedly thinks and experiments.
・Artist Statement
For the smaller works, I tried to create variations in color and lightness/darkness using the same grid.
For the larger work (1167 x 910 mm), I used AI to create the preliminary sketch, and tried the option of "co-creation," which has been considered as a relationship between AI and the artist in various ways.

油彩、水彩、鉛筆、アクリルを使った平面作品を主に制作。
エアブラシと特殊な技法を使い、モニター画像を平面に再現する試みが近年のテーマとなっている。
Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1979. Lives and works in Tokyo. Graduated from Musashino Art University.
Mainly creates two-dimensional works using oil, watercolor, pencil, and acrylic.
His recent theme is an attempt to reproduce monitor images on a flat surface using an airbrush and special techniques.
