この度、デカメロンでは、2023年9月1日(金)から9月24(日)まで、Grzegorz Stefanskiによる個展「-sleepers-」を開催いたします。
Grzegorz Stefanskiは、1983年にチュウフフ(PL)で生まれ2017年からロンドンを拠点とするポーランド人のアーティストです。哲学の修士号を取得した後、ワルシャワ美術アカデミーでミロスワフ・バウカの下で美術を学び、 2018年にロンドンのスレイド美術学校でMFAを取得。 彼は主にマルチスクリーンおよびシングルスクリーンのインスタレーションと写真を制作しています。
彼の実践は現象学とパフォーマンスの影響を強く受けており、振付、心理学、映画の結びつきに位置しています。物理的な儚さとジェスチャーの感情的な力を中心に展開する彼の作品は、アイデンティティと具体化の政治に焦点を当てています。彼が調査するテーマには、人間関係のダイナミクス、家父長制の男らしさの有害な証拠とその代替案、メンタルヘルス、記憶、歴史、反復などが含まれます。
彼の作品は、ルーブル美術館(2019年)、HKWベルリン(2019年)、ロンドンのホワイトチャペルギャラリー(2018年)、ワルシャワ近代美術館(2018年)、ワルシャワのウヤズドフスキ城現代美術センター(2018年)で展示および上映されている。 、チューリッヒのマニフェスタ 11 (2016)。 2017年にロンドンでイヴァン・ユリッツ賞を受賞し、ポーランドのヤングアート・ビエンナーレでグランプリを受賞した。 2020年にスチュアート・クロフト財団賞を受賞した。
彼は現在、関係力学と家のアイデアを探求する動画三部作と、男らしさのテーマについて研究を続ける赤外線ビデオシリーズに同時に取り組んでいます。

sleepers (2022 - ...) is a series of infrared films featuring masculine subjects asleep. They are filmed in single, long takes with a fixed camera. Paride (2023) is one of the films in the series.
The series focuses on sleep as one of the most vulnerable states of our existence and vulnerability itself as strength and agency emancipating from the oppression of patriarchy.
It forms part of my ongoing piece of research on the theme of masculinities and what it means or can mean, to be a man today. It has been preceded by such works, amongst others, as spill (2018) where I filmed men slowly falling to the ground, and restraint (2016) which shows men trapped in re-enacting toxic gender performance in a historical context.
The first video of sleepers series was one of myself. When watching the footage for the first time it struck me I had never seen myself in such a vulnerable state, for so long.
